Quick Gaze

A gif, a clip, or maybe just a photoset. Whatever it is, it's a moment of Zen for a stressful day.
Quick Gaze

You've likely seen this clip from Jane Schoenbrun's Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. It stars Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson, with Einbinder being in the GIF in question. I am not sure of the context; I haven't seen the movie, but the reaction from across the board speaks to something I've been saying for a while: the male gaze is a misnomer.

Schoenbrun is a transfen, non-binary artist, and the majority of the reactions I've seen on this GIF have been from Queer women; they have all pointed to one thing: when it comes to things that turn us on, there's more that unites us than divides us.

Hannah Einbinder, like Brie Larson, has a sleeper rack. Though if you've watched "Hacks," you'd know that, like Sydney Sweeney, she is hardly shy about showing them off. But notice how Schoenbrun and their DP, Eric Yue, frame and light Einbinder. The way the moonlight catches her pale skin, the outfit designed to show off those wonderful thighs. Even if it's meant as a commentary, there's an unspoken message within the scene that says, "We know it's wrong, but why is it so hot?"
